Foster vs Gonzalez for the Warrior Nation Title

In the turbulent sport of MMA, plans seldom remain unchanged across the weeks and months leading to that first bell; Warrior Nation no exception to Murphy’s Law. With the promotion’s inaugural 145lb Professional title ready to gird the waist of a worthy champion, Connecticut-based striker Chris “Cassius” Foster was called in to fight brutalizing grappler Vovka Clay, yet the injury bug would strike mere days from the scheduled affair. With Vovka Clay on the shelf with a knee injury, Warrior Nation was left with a monumental gap in their eleventh event; the largest of their promotional existence.

A fighter the caliber of Chris Foster is not someone easily crossed, bringing some of the sharpest hands in the region, bone-smashing power, and elite-level athleticism that could well have seen him dominate the sport of his choosing. With Clay bowing out, phones were lit up in every gym in New England, yet a short notice bout against Foster was an insurmountable task for all of the Bantamweight and Featherweights in the region.

All but one.

A fighter long absent from the MMA world, Pedro Gonzalez has been plying his fistic skills and embarrassing some of the best muay thai fighters in North America; mixing old world thai with a Massachusetts hard-nosed brawler mentality. Now given the green light to take to the cage yet again, Gonzalez will dust off the 4oz gloves and contest for the Warrior Nation 145lb title on four days notice.

Pound for pound, Foster and Gonzalez are two of the most talented fighters in all of New England, yet their talents don’t lie in evasion, token takedowns and playing to the judges, but in the dismantling of opponents in the method of their choosing. When these two take to the cage, the story of their battle will be written in blood, shed by razor-sharp elbows, murderous knees and leather-bound knuckles, neither fighter stopping until that belt is around their waist.

Warrior Nation XI takes place Saturday, July 25th at the Holiday Inn in Boxbourgh, Massachusetts. Visit www.warriornationxfa.com for event details and ticket information.
